Valentine's Day Learning Trays

I have found so many awesome ideas for Valentine's Learning Trays from other amazing, talented blogging mamas. Here are the trays we will be working on during the next two weeks. My February/Valentine's plans and ideas are booming in my brain! I am so excited about all of the fun and learning we will have in the next two weeks! Heart Sticks in Sugar Container
I found this awesome idea at Our Country Road

Beads with Pipe Cleaners

I plan to have the boys make the pipe cleaners into hearts with the beads on them.

Their completed hearts ready to be hung in the window. :)

Heart Sticks into Styrofoam

I also found Valentine cupcakes toppers to add to this activity.

Number Matching

The boys will count the hearts on the cards, then match the clothespin with the corresponding number.

Heart Cutting Practice
I found this awesome activity here The Princess and the Tot.
I will teach the boys how to cut on the black lines to make hearts.

Heart Stickers
I will have the boys peel the backing off of the stickers and just have fun making cards/crafts!

 Cookie Cutter Activity
I plan to have the boys  use the cookie cutters to sort, trace, and organize by size.
May even have to pull out the red, white, and pink play doh to use with these!

Sensory Bin
We will also continue to use our Valentine sensory bin which has lots of fun containers to open and close, fun erasers to sort and make patterns with, and lots of pom poms to put in the heart ice trays for fine motor skills. See my post here all about it.

Learning Trays

This week we worked on more fine motor skills, matching, and number recognition with our learning trays.

The boys enjoy lacing the animals on the Melissa and Doug Lace and Trace activity tray.

I decided to modify a Baby Animal puzzle that we own that has a lot of pieces. The boys matched the baby animals to the adult animals. CA was able to do this independently, which when the whole puzzle is out he struggles.

I wrote the numbers 1-10 on clothespins and then had the boys match them to the number cards.

I finally found a very focused look for CA! He is such a happy learner and does everything I ask of him so readily, but clipping the clothespin onto the card required his undivided attention and concentrated fine motor skills!

Fine Motor Skills with Trays

This week we focused on fine motor skills and colors a lot. 

I saw this great idea somewhere(sorry I don't remember where) to use paint swatches and paper clips for matching colors. Both boys loved it! They also worked very hard on their fine motor skills as working with paper clips is challenging!

We also used tongs, pom poms, and a mini muffin pan to transfer the pom poms into the muffin pan.

We also used pipe cleaners and a colander to work on fine motor skills.

 JP enjoyed making a tunnel for his "Little People" character.

Overall our tray activities were a lot of fun and I will continue to use trays as I feel it organizes our learning a bit. :)
