Veggie Tales Theme with FREE Printable

This week we have had a lot of fun with our Veggie Tales theme. I have to say I planned this theme awhile back and then realized that we don't own hardly any Veggie Tales related items. But not to worry my amazing nephew and sister came to our rescue! My nephew LOVES Veggie Tales and graciously allowed us to borrow all of his stash! Thank you!

These are the books, DVDs, and cds we have used this week.

My two sweet blessings taking a morning break to watch a favorite Veggie Tales DVD. The pillows end up off of the couches like this often. :)
I found a great tot lapbook that I used parts of at 1+1+1=1.
I also found great games and activities at The Veggies Tales site.

The boys put on a puppet show with finger puppets! The imaginative role play I heard during this time was amazing!

We also played "Memory" with a set of Veggie Tales cards I found at the Veggie Tales site.

We had a lot of fun with the "Veggies in Shapes" book in the tot book at 1+1+1=1 site. I printed a book for each of the boys and then we had a "Shape Search" around the house. I handed them each a page of the book with a shape on it and encouraged them to find those shapes in the house! Oh the fun we had is indescribable. I have got to get these active boys moving more! They ran and jumped through the house finding tons of shapes!
CA quickly found a circle on the floor that goes with a train set!

JP quickly found a rectangle in his plastic "money" container.

Then CA found stars in his room. I know you can't see his face, but he is beaming with pride.

I then had the idea to differentiate this activity for the boys as JP knows his shapes quite well. I have taught JP four sight words recently: I, and, is, & in. I found highlighter tape from my teaching days and allowed him to highlight the words "is" and "in" as these are two of his known sight words. He loved this! He then read the whole book to me! He was very excited.

Then I had the idea to make him his own Shape Book. So I made him a book using MS Power Point. I made shapes and then inserted pictures of him into the shape. He loved it and read it to me also. I titled it "JP in Shapes".

Now here is the fun part! A FREE printable for you!

I have created this document in Google documents to share with you. You can click on the picture to download the "______ In Shapes" book and add your child's name and picture to the file to make them a book of their own. This is my first time ever to share a printable, please let me know if you have trouble(although, I don't know if I'll know how to fix it) :) Keep in mind I created it in Power Point so you may want to convert it back to PP. It is in a PDF file now. I printed 4 slides to a page, but you can print up to 9 slides to a page to make them as big or as small as you would like. I hope you enjoy exploring shapes with your little ones who need it!

PS- There is one typo on this picture, but I have fixed it on the actual downloadable document. :)

Our bulletin board with a few of our work samples.
