Valentine's Day Sensory Bin

Here is our Valentine's Day/February Sensory Bin! I am having a lot of fun making sensory bins for my boys!

Here is a picture and list of the materials I used before I assembled the bin.

Materials:
Red Mail Box from Target
Heart Foam Shaped stickers from Walmart
Valentine theme Erasers from Walmart
Heart erasers from Target
Heart shaped ice cube trays from Target
Heart shaped boxes from The Dollar Tree
Red, Purple, and White pom poms

The boys were so excited to watch me take these pictures and then assemble the bin that they wanted to "play" with the bin right away! Here they are exploring it for the first time. JP quickly got the tongs out to use also.
I see many activities of sorting, tonging, transferring, patterns, and so much more in our future with this bin. I also plan to leave them a message in the mail box too each day in Feb. Looking forward to so many fun activities for Valentine's Day in February with these two sweet love bugs!

Check out the awesome Linky Parties that I linked up to this week!
I consider this activity frugal and thrifty as I bought most or all of the items at the $1 section of Target or at The Dollar Tree. I will also use many of the items in the bin for other activities in the 2 weeks to come. I also reuse my pom poms in each sensory bin. :)

  1. Love it! I have a few of those same items!! My older son loves his mailbox, and my younger son loves sorting with the heart shaped ice cube tray.

    1. Thanks, Brittney! All of the cute things in your sensory bin was definitely a huge inspiration for mine. I love the Dollar Tree, the $1 section of Target and the seasonal aisles at Walmart. I noticed that The Dollar Tree already had Easter items out, I had to refrain from buying any of it, but it was soooo tempting! I am looking forward to all the sorting and fine motor skills with the heart shaped ice cube tray. Too fun!

  2. What a wonderful sensory bin! I can just imagine your boys anxious to get into it! Sometimes my daughter makes it seem like assembling/prepping for activities is as exciting as the event itself! I'm so glad you linked this up to Teach Me Tuesday -- I hope we see you again next week!

  3. What do you do with all the filler stuff when you're done with your sensory bins? Mine are starting to build up

    1. Hi Lori! In this particular bin I plan on using a lot of the foam stickers for activities within the next 2 weeks. I also bought one package of pom poms that I keep reusing specific colors in each bin. When I take apart one sensory bin I store the items in ziploc bags in my "crafting" area of our playroom/school room. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for asking.

  4. The materials you added are great. I've been wanting to do one with my toddler, but trying to think of things that don't have small parts. I got some really good ideas from this post! Thanks for linking up to Thinky Linky Thursday!
